Drug and alcohol abuse can create profound changes in your brain and body chemistry. That's why one of the first steps in the drug and alcohol addiction treatment process is to detoxify from these toxic chemicals and their byproducts. There are several types of drug detox programs and alcohol detox programs available such as outpatient detox programs and ultra rapid detox programs, but the detox programs that have proven to be the safest and most effective are referred to as "medically based inpatient detox programs".Follow this blog to learn more about detoxification programs; what works, what doesn't and most importantly where to get help for yourself or a loved one.

How to Prepare for Addiction Rehab

Many addicts experience anticipatory anxiety when thinking about entering substance abuse treatment. Many questions such as what should I expect, will I be able to see and speak to my family and will I be in pain, plague the addict prior to treatment. These feelings of trepidation some times prevent addicts from following through with treatment and getting help for their addiction. Having insight about the expectations of treatment is helpful to decrease anticipatory anxiety.

  • Let go of preconceived notions about treatment. There are many reality television shows out about drug and alcohol rehab centers, as well as television and movie portrayals. Unfortunately, this perspective is through the vision of directors and producers to gain ratings. Rehab is about healing, not drama.
  • Prepare to follow rules. Some addicts feel that they don’t want to be told what to do. Rehab is a structured environment. This is to help the addict regain stability and decrease chaos that the addiction thrives off of. The rules and regulations of a treatment center are there for safety reasons and to protect the addict from unhealthy behavior patterns which he/she once participated in while using drugs and/or alcohol.
  • Take suggestions from addiction staff. There are many slogans which imply the reason addicts need to listen to others who are not active in addiction initially. One of those slogans is: “Your best thinking got you here.” The main focus for addicts active in addiction is obtaining and using substances. Addiction hurts your ability to think logically.
  • Have an open mind about change. Although addiction is characteristically chaotic, it can produce a black and white style of thinking in the addict. This style of thinking is based upon extremes and keeps the addict in a rigid mindset decreasing flexibility for change. The addict should be aware of all or nothing answers and he or she should attempt to find the gray area.

Entering addiction treatment is a good decision. The disease of addiction does not want the addict to get better because treatment will weaken the power of the disease. The addict’s thoughts will become stronger regarding avoiding treatment, especially as the enter date approaches. It is important to have an extremely strong and supportive network surrounding the addict. This will help combat the internal struggle the addict will have about going to treatment.

Letting go of preconceived notions, preparing to follow the rules, having an open mind and taking suggestions from addiction treatment staff is the best advice when preparing to enter addiction treatment.

I found the CURE for aictddion and I have proof for this? claim. Click on my name and witness Powerful Stories of Freedom. I personally know and have witnessed over 100? addicts who have found True? and Lasting FREEDOM after being enslaved by their aictddions for so long. I have been through many programs for my aictddion, but have never found so much Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love than I have in the program I am in now. And the people I know who have given their stories are experiencing the same!

Alcoholism is a disaese with symptoms, a course and prognosis. Despite its category and treatment as a medical disaese with specific symptoms, course and treatment, it doesn?t receive the same type of attention and compassion as many other forms of medical and mental maladies. For alcoholics, the desire to drink is as strong and as natural as the need to eat, sleep and breathe. Alcoholism is a progressive disaese and if left untreated can result in grave disability, serious illness or death. Many alcoholics understand these grave consequences, yet are unable to get and maintain sobriety. Alcoholism symptoms include: recurrent alcohol use resulting in the failure to fulfill major role obligations at work, school, home or family; recurrent use in situations that could be deemed hazardous, dangerous or criminal, such as driving while intoxicated (DWI) operating heavy machinery; recurrent alcohol related legal problems such as drunk in public, disorderly conduct, DWI; continued use despite persisting social and interpersonal problems related to alcohol, such as arguing with spouse/partner while intoxicated and physical fights.Pray if they need help get a church base program it helps the Best GOD can do wonders to all of us God Bless and hope all is well
